Japan's Home Stay Program
The Homestay Program: for decades Japanese parents overcame fears and have sent children from big cities and small rural towns overseas for homestays. Parents care so much for their children they are prepared to make great sacrifices. Is it any wonder that this island nation could become the world's second largest economy. Why do they do it? If you could personally interview kids who went at age 14, later when they were 18, you would find they speak much better English and are probably better at other subjects as well. Why? It opens their eyes and fuels the passion for learning.
Why Native Americans and Japan?
We are going to make this available to Native American children. We believe they can benefit from this better than any other group because they are in a community and Japan is so focused on society. So we believe this focus on society will enhance tribal social focus as the children pick up not only on increased drive to learn but also appreciate the benefit of honesty and trust and reliance on each member in society. And also appreciate Japan's focus on quality in everything from art to work and their work ethic. As a further bonus over time academic, financial and social improvements could be statistically measured.  Finally, Japanese and Native Americans shares some common background in that they are genetically cousins and both were peoples cut off from the rest of the world by water creating unique cultures. I am confident that Native American youth will not only be inspired to take learning more seriously but be inspired by the great things people sharing their genetic background have accomplished. I am confident that they will make lifelong contacts and reliable friends and be totally inspired.  How canJapan accomplish such great things? You will find it comes down to a people with honesty, discipline, and a sense of responsibility and duty and we believe these are learnt by children in Japan and can be taught. Â
Our Program - A two week homestay in Japan for a Native American child with a family fitting their desired profile.
Us and our program: due to our cultural ties between the US and Japan, we will enable homestays for Native American children and petition companies, organizations and individuals for financial and nonfinancial support. We will find Native American families that want to send their kids overseas between the ages of 10 and 14 starting at first with stays of two weeks and experiment and embellish the program over time. We we increase the list of tried and tested homestay families our program will grow and stays can potentially become longer. For the children we will procure health and life insurance to ensure maximum safety during their trip. We will find and cultivate staff and volunteers to take the children to the airport when the family cannot. We will find and cultivate staff and volunteers in Japan to greet the children at the airport and guide them to their destinations. Within a tribe on a given reservation we will work with their government to study over time significant statistical changes in school performance and future financial income of the participants. As the program evolves we envision some tribes or areas with dense Native American populations inviting Japanese teachers to teach younger children about Japan before they go on homestays themselves. Then someday in the future when these children are grown up creating companies of their own and doing research of their own we envision assisting in economic cooperation.
